Bone Grafts

Bone Regeneration-Guided
Bone graft is used to help aid the healing process of bone in a protected and guided way.
One very common method is at the same visit that the tooth is extracted, to prevent shrinkage and loosing the width, height and thickness of the natural bone so a
dental implant or a natural looking bridge and smile can be re-created

Different types of bone grafting materials are now available:

1. Autograft: Tissue is transferred from one position to another within the same individual

2. Allograft: Tissue transferred from one individual to another of same species after the bone has been properly processed. University of Miami (DFDBA, FDBA )

3. Xenograft: Tissue trasferred from one species to another species

4. Alloplast: A synthetic graft or inert foreign body implanted into tissue

Aesthetic Bridges:
The bone regeneration can enhance the gingival architecture and help establish a more natural smile; the bone graft and collagen membranes are used at the time of tooth extraction to prevent shrinkage of natural bone.

The Gingiva (Gum) below the bridge will now have a more natural looking appearance.

Natural Teeth:
Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR):  a procedure to recreate new bone around your teeth when periodontal disease have affected them. It will help to improve you overall dental life

A minor surgical entry is made to acces the bone surrounding the tooth in question, complete removal of toxins, calculus and diseased tissue is removed to allow a better visibility of the intrabony defect. When we have a contained defect (2-3 walls) and Deep (>5mm) than we may use the priciples of GTR and reconstruct the lost bone with new bone (pict 2) and protect the new bone with a Collagen membrane(pict.3) to aisolate the Gingiva from entering the new bone formation. Final sutures are placed to adapt and protects the Flap.
